Chief Secretary Shri Anthony de Sa has said that cooperation will be sought from the British government, Siemens, Sysco, DFID etc. for development of Smart Cities in Madhya Pradesh. Smart Cities will also be developed under PPP mode. Shri de Sa was addressing an international workshop for development of Smart Cities in Madhya Pradesh organised jointly by Madhya Pradesh and British governments at Indian Institute of Management at Indore today. Discussions were held on developing cities of Madhya Pradesh as Smart Cities as per conclusions drawn at the workshop.
Chief Secretary Shri Anthony de Sa informed that Madhya Pradesh is readying itself in the background of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s announcement for development of 100 Smart Cities in the country. An action plan on its concept is being chalked out with the cooperation of Britain. Result-oriented contemplation is being made so that people get maximum benefit of Smart Cities.
The Chief Secretary said that seminars will be held to develop Smart Cities identified under state’s Vision Document-2018 and expand traditional basic facilities there. Old cities will also be transformed under concept of Smart City. In-principle consent for this has been obtained during Global Investors Summit.
Director General of DFID Shri David Kennedy said that Smart Cities are vital for economic development of cities. Commercial activities, employment opportunities and economic development will be boosted with investment in Smart Cities.
Principal Secretary Urban Development and Environment Shri S.N. Mishra said that novel experiments of e-Municipal Corporation, e-Payment and communication revolution will be made under Smart City. Marshall Elliott, Richard Plaster of Britain and officers of Madhya Pradesh were also present on the occasion.
