Patients’ treatment should not be delayed

Public Health and Family Welfare Department has urged people to approach nearest government hospital in case of fever with acute throat pain and avail facility of free examination. Wards have been identified for treatment of swine flu patients in every government hospital and medical college. Heads of Medicine Department in Medical Colleges have been appointed Nodal Officers for treatment. Arrangements have been made as per protocol of Government of India. Medicines are available in adequate quantity. Private hospitals delay treatment by 2-4 days due to which condition of patients becomes serious.

All private nursing homes in the state have been directed to treat patients with swine flu symptoms only as per prescribed protocol. For this, medical ethics should be fully observed. Private nursing home association has assured to comply with prescribed points and patients will not be exploited. The state government has warned of strict action if a private nursing home is found guilty of not following protocol.

Medicines for treatment of swine flu (H-1 N-1) are available in adequate quantity in the state. The people with swine flu positive have been placed under high-risk category. Medicine for treatment of swine flu are available in adequate quantity in state’s hospitals.

Private hospitals will put cases of swine flu with case-sheet daily for review before a division level committee headed by Medical College Dean. The committee will comprise Divisional Joint Director, Chief Medical and Health Officer, Head of Medicine Department and Nodal Officer, who will submit their report to the directorate within 24 hours.
