State Election Commission prescribes symbols for Panchayat election candidates

State Election Commissioner has prescribed 39 election symbols for candidates of Zila Panchayat, 23 for Janpad Panchayat Member, 24 for sarpanchs and 10 election symbols for election of panchs. The commission has also prescribed 10 additional symbols, which may be allotted if number of candidates exceeds. 

State Election Commissioner R. Parasuram has informed that election symbols for candidates of Zila Panchayat Member include Bow-Arrow, Two Leaves, Rising Sun, Kite, Umbrella, Bullock Cart, Lantern, Spade & Shovel, Electric Bulb, Sewing Machine, Hand-mill, Table Fan, Slate, Radio, Harmonium, Two Swords & One Shield, Water Gun (Pichkari), Pitcher, Boy & Girl, Boat, Ring, Bat, Key, Candles, Pan (Kadhai), Whistle, Woman Carrying Basket on Head, Boat, Bench, Gas Cylinder, Gas Stove, Hearth (Sigdi), Petromax, Balloon, Table, Chair, Peacock Feather, Leaf of Pipal and Sunflower.

Election symbols for candidates of Janpad Panchayat Member include Blackboard, Banyan Tree, Shanty, Farmer Driving Tractor, Balance, Farmer Cutting Crop, Torch (Mashal), Almirah, Ceiling Fan, Television, Rail Engine, Telephone, Diesel Pump, Pressure Cooker, Cup Plate, Letterbox, Saw, Comb, Dholak, Drum, Bhonpu (Hooter), Cot and Door.

Election symbols for candidates of sarpanch include Spectacles, Glass, Coconut Tree with Fruits, Handpump, Lock & Key, Farmer Sprinkling Foodgrains, Basket of Vegetables, Bell, Table Lamp, Tubelight on Pole, Garland, Book, Stool, Pen & Inkpot, Well, Wheat Ear, Bus, Bridge, Tap, Lattu, Jug, Hockey & Ball, Hat and Violin.
