Under the president ship of Amit Shah with Narendra Modi and Arun Jaitley in BJP’s central election committee held in New Delhi, party has announced the list of 45 candidates for coming Assembly elections in J & K. They will be in the contest for all the 45 seats, with several fresh faces. There are 13 Muslim candidates among the candidature list, including a woman candidate too.
Former Congress MP Lal Singh (from Basholi) and former Congress leader R S Pathania (from Ramnagar) have also warmly on boarded and given the tickets.
Four senior Muslim leaders Fayaz Bhat, Sofi Yosuf, Nazir Raina and Mushtaq Noorabadi will be contesting from the Devsar, Pahalgam, Kangan and Noorabad provinces respectively. Moti Kaul is selected to be in the competition from Habba Kadal and the area consists around 16,000 migrant Pandits. Hina Bhat, daughter of former NC leader Shafi Bhat, has been given ticket from Amira Kadal. Bhat has recently joined BJP. Party has considered fresh candidates and migrant Pandits in Srinagar this time, along with the above notable ones.
“We had sent four names for each constituency and the party has decided to field candidates who can win,” BJP media point Altaf Thakur said. He said candidates for the remaining seats will be decided in a few days.
