Election of Sagar Mayor and Majhauli Nagar Parishad Chairman on Jan. 6

Labourers will also be able to exercise their franchise in voting in election for Mayor of Sagar Municipal Corporation and Chairman of Majhauli Nagar Parishad in Sidhi district to be held on January 6. Polling for both the elections will be held from 7 am to 5 pm.

In a circular to all concerning factory owners and managers, Labour Commissioner Shri K.C. Gupta has directed them to announce weekly off on polling day under section 52 of the Factory Act, 1948. Similarly, the establishments functioning 7X24 will give 2-hour lay off to labourers so that they can cast their votes. It means that the first shift will be closed 2 hours early and the second shift will be started two hours late. Workers of the factories which work continuously will be given time to vote turn by turn without causing any harm to their wages. Similarly, shops and establishments will declare weekly off on polling day (January 6) instead of regular day of weekly off to provide voting facility to workers.
