Panna tiger reserve is gaining popularity among forest & wildlife lovers of not only India but abroad also. A 6-member study team of Russian forest officers reached Panna on February 26. The Russian team will study all aspects of tiger management in Panna tiger reserve. The team has arrived under “Tiger Watch Programme” of Global Tiger Forum. Earlier, a foreign study team had also visited the reserve for 3 days in year 2012 under World Bank’s Tiger Initiative Programme.
During their visit, members of the Russian team will study reintroduction of tigers in the reserve under Tiger Reintroduction Project, radio telemetry monitoring, anaesthesia of tigers, radio collaring, issues concerning wildlife health, sign survey, wildlife protection through separate discussions with villagers. The team is headed by Sushri Scriprick Tatiyana. Teams of difference resource persons are led by Shri R. Shriniwas Murthy, Area Director Panna Tiger Reserve and Dr. K. Ramesh of Indian Wildlife Institute Dehradun.
It is noteworthy that effort has been made to develop Panna according to concept of “Tiger Training Centre” in the second phase of Panna Tiger Reintroduction Project. Now, Panna is bringing laurels to Madhya Pradesh from country and abroad by concretizing concept of Tiger Training Centre.
