High Court takes cognisance

The Jabalpur High Court has directed the state government to prepare a list of doctors who participated in strike on January 31, 2014. Through a writ petition today, the High Court was informed that medical services were affected due to strike by Indian Medical Association and Madhya Pradesh Medical Officers’ Association. The High Court has observed that citizens had to face problems and that doctors cannot resort to strikes as health is included in essential services. Taking cognisance of this, the High Court issued directives that doctors on strike must resume their duties immediately. Otherwise, they will be held guilty of contempt of court and next action will be considered.
