Prevention of Deforming of Property Act

Prevention of Deforming of Property Act under model code of conduct was enforced strictly during Vidhan Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh. Apart from removing wall paintings, posters, banners and flags from government and private buildings, 2 lakh 58 thousand 502 cases of misuse of loudspeakers-mounted vehicles, holding of public meetings and speeches without government permission and cash seizure were registered to ensure free and fair elections. FIRs were registered in 322 cases. As many as 2 lakh 19 thousand 775 electioneering materials were removed from government buildings and 131 FIRs were registered and 37 thousand 579 electioneering materials were removed from private buildings and 30 FIRs were registered. FIRs were registered in 51 out of 715 cases of misuse of vehicles, 26 out of 69 cases of misuse of loudspeakers, 12 out of 26 cases of speeches and meetings without permission and 8 FIRs out of 17 cases of cash seizure were registered. Similarly, 64 FIRs were registered out of 321 other cases.
