Over 10 thousand weapons deposited

All district active in issuing non-bailable warrants
Flying squads and other teams start visits


So far, 10 thousand 693 licensed weapons have been deposited in Madhya Pradesh since promulgation of model code of conduct. District administration and police have also started to serve non-bailable warrants. So far, 1768 non-bailable warrants have been issued. Due to strictness of police, 7 illegal firearms have been seized and licenses of 51 weapons have been cancelled. This was informed by Chief Electoral Officer Shri Jaideep Govind here today.

Shri Govind informed that in police action, 150 weapons, 22 kg explosives and 20 live cartridges have been seized. Action has been taken against 353 persons under sections 107/116 of CRPC. Flying squads and sector magistrates have started visits. Static surveillance team (SST) has seized material and initiated action. The team has also registered FIR in one case. According to Shri Govind, flying squad has seized Rs. 8 thousand 740 and police Rs. 2 thousand 475.

He informed that names of 3 lakh 37 thousand 138 voters have been included in electoral rolls since July 24 last. Similarly, names of 3 lakh 25 thousand 743 voters have been removed from electoral rolls. Similarly, names of 7 lakh 82 thousand 171 have been corrected and names of 45 thousand 274 voters who transferred to other constituencies have been included in electoral rolls. Work to include photographs in electoral rolls in the final stage. Total 59 voters’ photographs have remained to be included in electoral rolls of including 10 voters in Guna, Shahdol one, Narsinghpur 26, Khandwa 10 and Indore 9 voters. Errors have remained to be removed from 12 thousand 367 duplicate ID cards including 1278 in Morena district, 980 in Shivpuri, 1057 in Sagar, 1196 in Raisen and 1615 ID cards in Indore district.
