Free uniforms, other material for 2.41 lakh primitive tribe students

Special assistance for science coaching in 97 hostels

Tribal Welfare Department has paid special attention to promote education of 3 primitive tribes Bhariya, Baiga and Sahariya in the state. Apart from free uniforms, the department also provided sweaters, shoes & socks and schoolbags costing over Rs. 14 crore to 2 lakh 41 thousand students during last 8 years.

As sum of Rs. 6000 per institution is being provided for special coaching in maths, English and science subjects to students belonging to primitive tribes imbibing education in 97 hostels being run by the department. Arrangement of 504 vernacular teachers has also been made to teach students in tribal dialect. Three primitive tribes Eklavya residential schools are being run at Indore, Guna and Jabalpur. Every residential school has 300 seats for girls and 300 seats for boys. The department has sanctioned Rs. 15 crore each for construction of buildings of these schools.

Incentive amounts are also being provided to parents of primitive tribe girl students of class V, VIII, IX and XII of non-residential schools on the basis of students’ attendance in schools to ensure regular attendance. Last year, parents of 27 thousand 129 girl students were provided Rs. 9 crore 6 lakh.
