Number of polling booths crosses 50 thousand first time after year 1998

Polling will be held at 53 thousand 896 polling booths in Vidhan Sabha elections to be held in Madhya Pradesh this year. There were 46 thousand 812 polling booths in Vidhan Sabha elections of year 2008. After rationalisation, 7084 more polling booths have been added.

Number of polling booths was 42 thousand 276 in Vidhan Sabha elections in year 2003. Before present number of polling booths (53 thousand 896), there were 56 thousand 834 in year 1998 in undivided Madhya Pradesh. In year 1993, number of polling booths was 45 thousand 628, in 1990, 44 thousand 641 and in 1985, 34 thousand 12. Number of Vidhan Sabha constituencies in undivided Madhya Pradesh before year 2003 was 320.

Voting percentage

Voting percentage has been increasing constantly during last 6 Vidhan Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh. It was 49.79 percent in year 1985, 54.21 percent in 1990, 60.17 in 1993, 60.21 percent in 1998, 67.25 percent in 2003 and 69.78 percent and 69.78 percent in year 2008.

Electorates



During last 2 years, number of voters has increased by one crore. At present, there are 4 crore 64 lakh 852 voters in the state. This number of 3 crore 62 lakh 77 thousand 826 in year 2008 and 3 crore 79 lakh 36 thousand 518 in 2003. The number of voters in undivided Madhya Pradesh in year 1998 was 4 crore 48 lakh 61 thousand 760, four crore 2 lakh 12 thousand 489 in year 1993, three crore 75 lakh 75 lakh 95 thousand 559 in 1990 and 2 crore 91 lakh 72 thousand 283 in year 1985.
