Anganwadi workers-assistants not to pay insurance premium till year 2015

Anganwadi workers-assistants in Madhya Pradesh are getting insurance scheme benefit without paying premium. They will continue to get this facility till March 31, 2015. All other benefits under the scheme like scholarships and medical reimbursement for Anganwadi workers-assistants will also continue as before. Facility of free premium has been given from April 1, 2013. Under the scheme, earlier annual premium worth Rs. 80 each was given by Anganwadi workers-assistants to concerning insurance company.

The provisions under the scheme for Anganwadi workers-assistants from 18 to 59 years of age include benefit of Rs. 30 thousand on natural death, Rs. 75 thousand on death or permanent total disability due to accident, Rs. 37 thousand 500 for partial disability due to accident, Rs. 20 thousand to women on 6 types of diseases and Rs. 100 per month scholarship upto 2 children studying in class IX to XII. It is noteworthy that this scheme is under implementation in the state since year 2004-05. State Government has issued directives to districts to seek cooperation of local LIC offices to ensure benefits to eligible beneficiaries.
