Over 41 thousand posts filled up in police force in 10 years

For strengthening law & order situation and providing jobs to the jobless, over 41 thousand 191 police personnel of various cadres have been recruited since January 2004 till July 2013. These include 38 thousand 374 posts of constable, 1770 of sub-inspector, Subedar and platoon commander, 610 posts of clerk and 437 posts for ex-servicemen. Besides, process is also underway to recruit 5000 posts of constables and 622 posts of, sub-inspectors, Subedars and platoon commanders.

Apart from recruitments, 30 thousand new posts were also sanctioned during last 10 years. The government also decided to increase strength of police in ratio of rise in population. Recruitments in police force will now be made regularly. The government has included Police Department in the scheme for additional expenditure under Non-Plan Head. As a result, 12 new schemes were sanctioned last year and 16 new ones this year. For them, the government has sanctioned additional Rs. 200 crore.
