Chief Minister Shri Chouhan reviews flood relief operations
Flood fury in Madhya Pradesh has subsided considerably. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has directed that now the government machinery should be deployed on a war-footing in distribution of relief to flood-affected people, providing them health services and ensuring their housing arrangements. Shri Chouhan has decided that 15 days’ additional pay will be given to Home Guard jawans engaged in relief and rescue works and officers and employees will also be given letters of citation. Shri Chouhan undertook a high-level review of flood relief and rescue works today also. He directed that now assessment of losses should be made on a war-footing.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan said that ideal arrangement for relief distribution should also be ensured like the concrete and effective disaster management made during these floods. In the flood-affected villages, priority should be given to distribution of ration to affected families, shift them to safer places and arrangement of medicines and housing for them. As soon as water recedes completely, assessment of crop loss should be undertaken.
It was informed that water is receding everywhere now. Army helicopters have been deployed in relief and rescue operations. Medical teams are being sent by helicopters today to marooned village Bhil Pipariya in Dewas district and Bankheri in Hoshangabad district.
Chief Secretary Shri R. Parasuram, DGP Shri Nandan Dube, Additional Chief Secretary Home Shri I.S. Dani, DGP (Home Guard) Shri R.K. Shukla, Principal Secretary to CM Shri Manoj Shrivastava and Principal Secretaries of Water Resources and Narmada Valley Development departments were also attended the meeting.
