Rs. 821 lakh sanctioned for medicinal plants

National Medicinal Plants Board, New Delhi has sanctioned Rs. 821 lakh for plantation of medicinal plants in 12 forest divisions in the state. Of the funds sanctioned under Ex-situ Conservation for Resource Augmentation Scheme, Rs. 480 lakh has been released to the state. Medicinal plants will be planted under the scheme in 1450 hectare in eastern Chhindwara, southern Chhindwara, Vidisha, Rajgarh, Satna, Sidhi, southern Sagar, Burhanpur, Dewas, Harda and Gwalior forest divisions.

Besides, Rs. 1 crore 62 lakh 55 thousand has been sanctioned under Rural Livelihoods Scheme being implemented in Naxal-infested areas of Balaghat district. Rs. 3 crore 45 lakh 99 thousand has also been sanctioned for Guggal Preservation and Development Scheme, which is being implemented in Morena, Bhind and Sheopur districts.
