Bhopal’s Benazir Palace, other archaeological sites to be developed

Culture Minister Shri Sharma at MP Heritage Development Trust’s meet

Madhya Pradesh Heritage Development Trust will preserve and develop Benazir Palace of Bhopal, Kesar Baori of Sironj, Udan Chhatri, Raoji ki Haveli, Vishnu Mandir Gopal Nagar and Idgah Sironj during year 2013-14. This was decided at a meeting of general council and executive body of the trust chaired By Culture Minister Shri Laxmikant Sharma here today. Shri Sharma stressed the need for the publicity of Madhya Pradesh’s monuments.

Decisions were also taken at the meeting to shoot documentary films on lesser known monuments and State Museum, rose garden at Lal Bagh Palace, Indore and repair of chairs in the palace. Website of Archaeology Department will be linked with tourism website. Apart from display board, encyclopedia of known and unknown historical monuments of Madhya Pradesh Part-3 and Part-4 will also be published. They will also be converted into e-books.

Trustee Secretary Shri Pankaj Rag informed that trust’s revenue has increased from shooting of films in the state. Trust member Shri J.B. Deglukar of Pune, Shri Ajay Sevkari of Dhara, Shri Gautam Kothari of Indore and Dr. K. N. Dixit of New Delhi gave important suggestions at the meeting.
