Dengue under control at Bakauri in Mandla district


Rs. 1 lakh assistance each to kin of 5 deceased

Dengue situation is under control in village Bakauri of Mandla district. Doctors and paramedical staff at the health centre there are treating patients round-the-clock in 3 shifts. Insecticides are being sprayed to eradicate dengue larva. Besides, 55 MPWs and 22 ICDS workers are disinfecting water sources door-to-door. People are also been educated about prevention of dengue.

On June 21 last, Principal Secretary Health Shri Praveer Krishna and district collector Shri Lokesh Jatav visited Bakauri and expressed satisfaction over anti-dengue measures. From Jabalpur also, Joint Director Dr. Ranjana Gupta, Dr. J.C. Paliwal and Dr. M.M. Moheliya visited village Bakauri thrice. Team of ICMR has visited the village 6 times. A team of Jabalpur Medical College doctors has also visited it thrice.

So far, 900 patients have been treated at Bakauri. As per blood samples of 290 people taken by ICMR 172 were found positive. At present, 39 patients are admitted in district hospital and 5 in Jabalpur Medical College Hospital. Today, 5 patients were referred to Jabalpur Medical College Hospital and Rs. 2 thousand each assistance was provided to them. In all, 9 people have died at Bakauri since June 9. These include 5 dengue patients. Four persons have died due to other causes. Assistance wroth Rs. 1 lakh each is being provided to the kin of people who have died of dengue. So far, 3 families have been provided assistance while process is underway for assistance to 2 other families.
