Now Rs. 1 thousand per month maintenance allowance for old age home inmates

The State Government has issued orders to increase maintenance allowance being given to inmates of old age homes from Rs. 500 per month to Rs. 1000 per month. Social Justice Minister Shri Gopal Bhargava informed that old age homes are run under provisions of Madhya Pradesh Nirashiraton Evam Nirdhan Vyaktiyon Ki Sahayata Niyam-1997. Besides, there is also a provision to establish old age home under Mata-Pita Aur Varishth Nagrikon Ka Bharan-Poshan Tatha Kalyan Adhiniyam-2007. As a result of the State Government’s revolutionary step, now old age home inmates will get double maintenance allowance.

As per the orders issued by Social Justice Department, this amount will be sanctioned by district collectors in exercise of powers delegated to them after calculating monthly expenditure on maintenance of inmates and running old age homes. For this, it will be necessary that budget of destitute fund of district is chalked out and endorsement of district-level committee is sought. Before releasing amounts from destitute fund, inspection by Social Justice Department’s Join Director/Deputy Director rank officer or Class-II officer any other department will be necessary. Attendance register of inmates of old age home will also have to be verified regularly. Admission to senior citizens in old age home will given by concerning collector or an officer authorised by him. Old age homes will have to comply with all terms and conditions as laid down in Nirashiraton Evam Nirdhan Vyaktiyon Ki Sahayata Niyam-1997 and Amended Rules-2000.
