The recent death of a prisoner has sparked a row of contemplations in the district jail.
The
kin of the deceased said the prisoner, Mohd Sharif did not have any
ailment then how could he die suddenly. The jail administration
suspected that Sharif might have died because of heart attack. However,
the detailed information about his death will come after the
post-mortem.
Jail
superintendent Neti said Sharif’s condition deteriorated suddenly in
the early hours of January 27 and doctor of jail was called who declared
him dead after examination.
Neti
said Mohd Sharif alias Fuddi, 45, son of Mohd Nazir Qureshi, resident
of Bhandarya village under Chandameta police station in Chhindwara
district was awarded life imprisonment under section 302, 148 and 149 of
IPC and was shifted to Narsinghpur jail on July 1, 2012. He was not
suffering from any disease but he was under treatment for some eyes
problem.
Hasina
Bano wife of Sharif said she had met her husband on January 10 and he
was healthy. She said if he was ill then the jail employees should have
informed her but they did not. She was informed after his death at
9-10am on Sunday, said Bano.
She
alleged the jail employees that they never allowed her to meet her
husband without taking bribe. They used to take Rs 300 to give food to
Sharif.
