BETUL.
The
insult of the national flag – Tricolour – by the people’s
representatives, government employees and responsible citizens has
become a kind of tradition at Chandu village. The people bearing the
responsibility do not pay attention towards the honour of national flag
during flag hoisting ceremony on Republic Day on January 26.
However,
the national flag is hoisted at this village like other government
offices of the district but the villagers do not pay attention towards
its honour. The dishonour of Tricolour has become common at this village for last few years whether it is the matter of school or government office.
Last
year a public representative had beaten up a drunkard teacher on the
matter of dishonour of national flag on August 15, 2011 and the then
assistant commissioner had suspended the teacher and later he was
reinstated and posted to other school.
Yet,
the responsible officials posted at the village did not take precaution
on republic day. According to information, the national flag along with
cord fell on the ground when it was being hoisted at sub health centre
at Chandu village on the Republic Day recently.
Later,
the officials tied national flag at the poll by using a ladder. The
video recording of the whole incident was made by some of the village
youths who are going to hand over a CD of the incident to the collector
during public hearing on Tuesday to demand action against the
responsible officials.
