A programme was organized on the occasion of national consumer day at Mangalam auditorium, Shivpuri on Monday. District collector RK Jain was the chief guest on the occasion. Zila Panchayat CEO Sandeep Makin, Upbhokta Jagriti Mission president GS Goyal, members Harjeet Virmani, Ramakant Dixit and Milendra Sahastrabuddhe, a large number of advocates and citizens were present on the occasion.
Collector RK Jain on this occasion said that every person is a consumer and being a consumer it is his right to purchase any service or thing at reasonable rate.
It is very necessary that service or things should be harmless and qualitative. But the consumers often duped. He stressed on the necessity of awareness of the consumers about their rights.
Collector further said that the cases are not registered at consumer forum because of lack of awareness among the public. He said that the boxes are being weighed with sweets at sweet shops and the consumers do not pay attention that what quantity is being given to them. Similarly, the consumers do not read the manufacturing and expiry dates of medicine during purchasing of life saving drugs. We should purchase medicine after seeing batch number. There is no trend of taking bill from petrol pump.
Zila Panchayat CEO Sandeep Makin said that some anti social elements having mean mentality and are polluting our pure food stuff but we do not raise voice against them.
He also stressed on making the process of consumer forum easier.
